As is so often the case, the story begins with an idea that others believed would be impossible to implement. In this case, King C. Gillette had the idea of a very thin, disposable blade in 1901, which MIT scientists claimed to be impossible. Gillette has proven the opposite and the name has been synonymous with innovations in wet shaving for over 115 years.
